2011 Mouse Racing Night

The spring racing carnival is coming to the Cockburn Cricket Club

The 2011 Mouse Racing Night is set for the evening of Saturday November the 5th.

Dress up as your favourite punter for this night of high stakes, fast racing and fluffy mice. Entry is at 7pm for 6 race event.

2011/12 Season – Captain Nominations

We will be having 4 two day sides and 3 one day sides. The captains for the two days will be stand alone with a nominated vide captain. The captaincy for the One day sides will consist of three people (leadership group).

2011/2012 Pre Season Training

Hi Everyone

With the 2011/2012 Cricket season just 9 weeks away the Cockburn Cricket Club will be having their first pre season training session at the Cricket Shop Indoor Centre (Stock Road) very shortly. The first three training dates will be as followed:

Friday September 02 – 5.30pm – 7.30pm (Indoor Centre)
Friday September 09 – 5.30pm – 7.30pm (Indoor Centre)
Friday September 16 – 5.30pm – 7.30pm (Indoor Centre)

From there we will kick off our Mid week Tuesday / Thursday training from 5pm onwards and maybe a Sunday or two.

We are trying to arrange a few practice matches in Pinjarra during the week before the AFL Grandfinal – further details to be advised.

As it is our 30th Year Anniversary strong numbers are needed, we would like to field 7 sides once again. To do this we need your support and commitment from the start of the season. If you know of any prospective players that may be interested in joining the Cockburn Cricket Club pass them our details.

CCC Crowned One Day D 2010/2011 Premiers

After winning the toss we elected to bowl first, our bowlers performed well as did all our fielders. Kelmscott as usual came our swinging from the first ball. After their 40 overs Kelmscott had scored of 9/177.

Our boys were confident on achieving this total and our opening pair of Robbie Murdoch and Geoff Barrett put on an opening partnership of 74, before Geoff was caught after making 28 runs. Then an 81 run partnership between Robbie and Matt Bowerman had us on the road to victory. Robbie was the second wicket to fall when the score was 155. Robbie reached 91 before being stumped, it was a shame that he couldn’t go on and reach his century as he deserved it for his efforts through out the season.

With 23 runs remaining for victory Trent Barrett came to the wicked to join Matt Bowerman, some big swings from Trent had us all nervous. With 5 runs still needed for victory, Matt Bowerman was the 3rd wicket to fall after making a very handy 35 runs.
We passed Kelmscott’s score in the 36 overs and reached 3/182.

I could not be prouder for the team in the way they played all season, we hadn’t beaten Kelmscott all season and to beat them on the big stage away from home was sensational.

 
Well done again, I will remember this season and this victory for many years. Thanks to all for their efforts this season, you deserved the win and it was a fitting reward for your season. Thanks also to Joe Covic for being our 12th man on the day.

Footy Pre Season Training has started at Davilak

Twenty20 comes to Cockburn this Sunday 24/10

The Cockburn Premier League starts this Sunday with a round robin event between 4 teams consisting of current day players, life members, past players, and sponsors. It’s sure to be a great family fun day. First game starts at 12noon at Davilak Reserve.
